A judge in Porter County has issued a warrant for the arrest of Nasir Farrakhan, son of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, for failing to show up for a probation revocation hearing Tuesday, a deputy county prosecutor said Thursday.

Farrakhan was on probation for a May 10 accident in which his Hummer hit the rear of another vehicle on the Indiana Toll Road near Ind. 49.

In June, he plead guilty to criminal recklessness with a vehicle, a misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 15 days, or 90 hours of community service, a one-year suspended jail sentence and a 60-day drivers license suspension.

Porter County Deputy Prosecutor Adam Burroughs said Farrakhan did not complete any of his community service.

Superior Court Judge Julia Jent has issued a class two warrant for his arrest, which means he cannot bond out of jail.

"He will be seen whenever the judge is available to see him," Burroughs said.

He added this is a common process.

"It has nothing to do with who Mr. Farrakhan is or who his father is," Burroughs said.

Farrakhan's lawyer, Jerry Jarrett, did not acknowledge the revocation hearing, Burroughs said.

A U.S. District Court jury found Jarrett guilty of six felony counts of money-laundering on Tuesday. He was not immediately available for comment.

Nasir Farrakhan also could not be reached for comment.
