Neo-Nazis from as far away as England joined Croat, Slovene, and German skinheads over the weekend to mark anniversary of a retreat by elite Nazi troops in February 1945 as the Russians advanced.
Carrying Nazi flags and dressed in black, they marched in formation Saturday and listened to speeches by representatives of the various nations hailing the "German heroes."
"This is a wonderful meeting of the youth of Europe -- we are here in peace," said Hungarian neo-Nazi Zsolt Ikai on RTL-Klub TV news.
The clash erupted late Saturday after the participants, meeting at the Viking beer hall and discotheque, attacked police officers visiting the premises on a routine patrol, authorities said.
