"Going into therapy or training at one of their centers brings to mind what Robert Lifton referred to as 'milieu control' when referring to certain group conversion processes. Everything one hears, sees and reads is about promoting Fred Newman and social therapy. Only the positive aspects get communicated and the ties between the therapy practices and the politics are extremely confusing. The bottom line, however, is that despite the ostensible claims that social therapy is about 'not knowing,' 'development and growth,' it is an extremely authoritative group that manipulates people into suppressing their individuality in order to work for 'the cause,' and exploits them on many levels. Unfortunately, I got sucked in and have had to try to piece my life back together little by little. Vulnerable people who come for help become totally dependent on their therapist. Little by little, those deemed appropriate recruitment material are steered into slaving for a group, which advocates 'giving for the sake of giving.' What most people fail to realize is that this is a thirty year old revolutionary Marxist, Leninist group whose goal is 'revolution.' This group sees nothing unethical about steering therapy patients into the movement. It is time politicians and the mental health field started to take this dangerous group more seriously."
"Fred Newman has created a group that preaches hate. The Newmanites have been deceiving people for years. They prey on individuals who are vulnerable and have destroyed people's lives. Our political leaders should have done their research on this group before helping or supporting them. Groups like the Newmanites pose a very real threat to this country."
