San Jose, California - A San Jose woman will spend as much as five years in prison after pleading guilty to criminal charges in a psychic/fortune teller scam, according to authorities.
Lola Miller, 56, pleaded guilty last week to two counts of grand theft, said the Santa Clara District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutor alleged that Miller swindled $450,000 from a San Jose woman between August 2004 and March 2005 after reading her fortune. Miller had reportedly told the woman she was cursed and needed to be cleansed of evil, said the DA's office.
The victim has since died of cancer.
Both of Miller's daughters were arrested last week on similar charges, said authorities.
