Psychic Accused Of Stealing $65,000 From Broward Women

WTVJ-TV Miami/December 23, 2008

Authorities are looking for a self-proclaimed psychic who scammed five Broward County women out of nearly $65,000.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said 35-year-old Gina Marie Marks claimed she was a psychic with special powers. Over the phone and in person, she allegedly told her victims that by giving her money, she could cleanse them of curses and evil spirits.

Marks also told her victims the money would be returned after the cleansing however she never delivered on that promise. Instead, Marks defrauded five victims of close to $65,000.

"She said it's not going to be easy," one woman said. "There's a lot of things that have to be done, but obviously she is going to help (me) and I have to be strong. You have to give me all you got and trust me. Swear to me that I trust you. 'OK, well I trust you.'"

The sheriff's office received a warrant for the Hollywood woman's arrest last week but haven't been able to find her yet. Authorities are concerned that there might be additional victims.

Marks also uses the name Regina Milbourne, under which she wrote the book "Miami Psychic" in 2006.
