Pittsburgh police this morning charged a Squirrel Hill white supremacist with fatally shooting his girlfriend in the head following an argument in her car.

Hardy C. Lloyd, 26, who until recently operated an Internet site preaching violence against non-whites and law enforcement, confessed to shooting Lori Hann, 41, in the face with a .380-caliber pistol late Tuesday, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed to support a homicide charge.

Lloyd was jailed without bond following his arraignment in the Allegheny County Coroner's Office.

City police did not immediately comment on whether they believe the killing was linked to Lloyd's racist activities. Earlier this week, police said they had no information indicating that the killing of Hann, who was white, or the fatal shooting of a University of Pittsburgh student from Nigeria two hours later in Squirrel Hill, were hate crimes.

A friend of Hann's said the Forest Hills secretary had met Lloyd less than a month ago through an Internet dating site.

Hann, a former legal secretary who for the past year did clerical work for a Monroeville home health care company, was found dead at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, sprawled across two planters on the porch of a home on Beacon Street in Squirrel Hill.

Witnesses reported seeing a man with bushy brown hair run from the scene. Police found Hann's car parked out front and a gun nearby.

According to the affidavit, homicide detectives brought Lloyd in for questioning at about 11 last night. He gave the following account of the killing:

Hann arrived at Lloyd's Bartlett Street home at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. He met her out front. She told Lloyd that she was very angry, and that she was going to break up with him if he did not get into her car.

Lloyd told police he got in and she sped away. She then stopped in front of the Beacon Street home and ran up to the porch. Lloyd told police he followed her to the porch and shot her once in the face with a pistol.

Pittsburgh police last month had been alerted to Lloyd's racist activities after he sent an e-mail bragging about skinheads and "Creators" -- members of the former World Church of the Creator -- protesting against presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry in Market Square, Downtown. Lloyd said in the e-mail that there were plans for a skinhead concert later in the month.

Lloyd's Internet site was no longer available online as of this morning.
