Lately at TBN

One News Now/September 19, 2012

In the latest allegation to unfold against Trinity Broadcasting Network, the ministry is being accused of a power play against family members.

TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network)Filed court documents allege that TBN leader Paul Crouch, Sr., while on what was thought to be his deathbed, wrote a letter naming Matthew Crouch -- not his namesake -- as his predecessor.

The Orange County Register reports that when Paul Crouch, Sr. was in the hospital for congestive heart failure last year, he did not name Paul Crouch, Jr. as the ministry's next head. The family filed a photo of Jan Crouch holding the letter that her husband wrote.

Although Paul Crouch, Sr. is still alive, Matthew Crouch is now head of the ministry's daily operations. Paul Crouch, Jr. and his family have been removed from TBN.

Two granddaughters of Paul and Jan Crouch are currently in legal battles against TBN, accusing the ministry of financial schemes and waste and for covering up an incident of rape (see earlier story). TBN denies the allegations and maintains that the granddaughters are revealing "distorted" information.
