Trial Set For Student Stabbing

Associated Press/November 23, 2004

A former student at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield has been found competent to stand trial on a murder charge.

25-year-old Shuvender Sem of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of another student in March.

Levi Butler of La Quinta, California, was stabbed with a paring knife in a campus dining hall.

Sem is also charged with assault for allegedly attacking another student earlier in the day with a ballpoint pen.

Sem was found incompetent to stand trial last summer. A judge now says both sides agreed after another evaluation to move forward with the trial, which is set for June sixth.
