The late wife of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard left her home to her prized pooch, who survived its master by 11 years and lived it up in a multi-million-dollar Los Angeles pad.
Mary Sue Hubbard lived at 2345 Chislehurst Drive, in LA’s gentrified Los Feliz neighborhood, until she died in 2002 and her former four-bedroom, four-bathroom place is now on the block for $2.5 million.
L. Ron Hubbard’s third and final wife stipulated in her will that the house could not be sold as long as her beloved fluffy white Shih Tzu dog, named Tzu, was alive, said Scientology blogger Tony Ortega.
That pooch only died last summer, finally opening the door for Mary Sue’s survivors to sell the house, according to Ortega’s blog, The Underground Bunker, which chronicles the shadowy, celebrity-loving church.
Mary Sue Hubbard was given the house by Scientology leaders as a reward for going to prison and protecting other church elders, The Underground Bunker reported.
Prior doing time in 1983-84, Mary Sue Hubbard was considered an important Scientology leader and stern enforcer of church doctrine that demands unquestioned loyalty from members.
The 2012 movie “The Master” was loosely based on Scientology with Amy Adams’ character Peggy Dogg, reportedly inspired by Mary Sue Hubbard.
