Days following the Nevada Supreme Court's dismissal of an initial indictment against Nathan Chasing Horse, authorities have filed new criminal charges. Accused of leading a cult, the former actor now faces allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors. A report by News 3 Las Vegas stated that Chasing Horse has been charged with using or permitting a minor to produce pornography and possession of pornography involving a minor.

The legal proceedings centered on how the case was presented to the grand jury, which resulted in the initial case being dismissed. Chasing Horse, who faced 18 felonies, including sexual assault of a minor and kidnapping, received relief when the Nevada Supreme Court noted clear errors in the jury process, as stated by his defense attorney. These errors included an improper definition of grooming and the failure to present contradictory evidence from the victims' statements that could have affected the grand jury's impartiality.

Despite the setback to the prosecution, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson expressed intentions to seek a fresh indictment via the grand jury, as noted in a statement obtained by News 3 Las Vegas. The adjusted bail for Chasing Horse now sits at $200,000, and the case has shifted to the North Las Vegas Justice Court, with an arraignment hearing that took place Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, details about the federal case emerged, showcasing its termination. Sexual exploitation and child pornography charges that Chasing Horse faced federally have been dismissed, tied closely with the statewide indictment's downfall. The motion to dismiss the federal case came just one day after the Supreme Court's decision, and U.S. Magistrate Judge Brenda Weksler sanctioned this motion on Tuesday last week, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Details pertaining to the demise of the federal case from the district of Nevada’s U.S. attorney’s office were not immediately available for comment.

The case against Chasing Horse has evolved significantly since his arrest in January 2023. His home was raided by police, who discovered evidence including firearms, drugs, and a cellphone containing pornographic videos of a child. Multiple women have accused Chasing Horse of sexual assault, some reporting that they were filmed without their consent. One woman claimed Chasing Horse asserted he could cure her mother's cancer through sexual acts with him, as per statements to the police detailed in court records shared by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
