Little Rock, Arkansas - Convicted evangelist Tony Alamo (uh-LAH'-moh) has fired his attorney in a lawsuit filed by two former members of Alamo's ministry.
Attorney John Wesley Hall Jr. of Little Rock says in a court filing that Alamo's wife, Susan, told him Sunday that he's "immediately discharged." The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Hall asks to withdraw from the case.
Hall represented Alamo in the lawsuit by Seth Calagna and Spencer Ondrisek that says they say they were beaten by John Kolbeck on Alamo's orders. The two were awarded a $ 3 million default judgment against Kolbeck in October 2009. Kolbeck died in January.
Alamo's trial is to begin May 31 in Texarkana.
Alamo is serving a 175 year prison term after being convicted of taking young girls across state lines for sex.
