Little Rock, Arkansas - Federal prosecutors are trying to seize more than two dozen properties held by convicted evangelist Tony Alamo's ministries so proceeds from their sale can be given to children Alamo was convicted of abusing.
U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge on Monday announced that his office filed court papers to seize Alamo-related properties in Fort Smith, Fouke and Texarkana.
Alamo was convicted of taking young girls across state lines for sex and is serving a 175-year prison sentence. He was also ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution to five victims, but prosecutors say Alamo has made no payments.
Alamo is also facing other civil lawsuits over his alleged abuse. A lawyer for Alamo didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
Prosecutors are trying to seize 27 properties associated with the ministry.
