Ex-cultist Takahashi served warrant over Aum notary slaying Kyodo

The Japan Times/September 3, 2012

Former Aum Shinrikyo cultist Katsuya Takahashi was served with a fresh arrest warrant Sunday over the abduction and murder of a Tokyo notary public in 1995, police said.

Takahashi, 54, has been indicted on several charges, including over his involvement in the cult's deadly 1995 sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system.

The fourth warrant was issued over his role in abducting and murdering Kiyoshi Kariya, 68, between February and March 1995. Kariya's sister was trying to leave the cult at the time.

Takahashi allegedly helped other cult members force Kariya into a car and drove the vehicle, the investigators said. He hasn't said anything about the charges, the police said.

Takahashi, the last fugitive wanted in the subway gas attack 17 years ago, was finally arrested in June.
