Pueblo, Colorado - A $4 million settlement has been reached for 23 men who claim they were sexually abused decades ago when they attended a Roman Catholic high school in Pueblo, their attorneys announced today.
The attorneys, Jeffrey M. Herman and Adam D. Horowitz, said they would give details at a news conference later in the day.
Herman and Horowitz represent men who sued the Diocese of Pueblo and the Marianists religious order, alleging they were sexually abused by William Mueller, a former Marianist brother and teacher at Roncalli High School. The school closed in 1971.
The lawsuits allege Mueller would knock out boys with ether and in many instances sexually molest them.
Sixteen other people in Missouri and Texas also had accused Mueller of molesting them. Those claims were made either in police reports or in lawsuits. Mueller has denied sexual misconduct.
Roncalli was an all-boys high school owned by the Pueblo diocese and staffed by the Marianists.
