Police break up sex cult in China run by 'disciple' of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh

Herald Sun, Australia/August 24, 2010

Chinese police say they have broken up a sex cult that was advocating free love and group sex in the southeastern city of Xiamen.

Police acted after a tip-off that Chen Keyong, 54, was living with his women followers, having group sex with them and engaging in other activities including meditation and wild dancing, the Shanghai Daily said.

They said the women, who all had jobs before joining the cult, had given up their careers and left their families to follow Mr Chen's "green land health community".

The women paid Mr Chen about 2500 yuan ($US368) for a two-day training course and up to 18,000 yuan for a 21-day session. They also brought teenage girls to his courses, Xiamen police said.

Mr Chen claims he is a disciple of controversial Indian mystic Osho, also known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, whose open attitude to sexuality earned him the nickname "sex guru".
