South Australian Industrial Relations Minister Michael Wright says there is nothing sinister about a clause that allows a specific Christian sect to prevent unions from entering its work sites.
Greens MP Mark Parnell claims the Labor Party is giving special treatment to the Exclusive Brethren.
Mr Wright says the legislation has been in place for three years and there has not been a reaction to it before now.
He says the brethren has exclusive rights in regard to entry on its premises in limited circumstances.
"They don't have any lobbying powers beyond any other lobby group," he said.
"In fact, I would suggest that they probably have less power over the Government than some of the other major stakeholders, whether it be in my portfolio or other portfolio areas as well.
"I think Mr Parnell was tending to exaggerate the influence of the Brethren community."
