NH residents eligible for refunds from defunct Maine project

Concord, New Hampshire -- New Hampshire residents who bought items sold as "healing instruments" from a defunct Maine-based non-profit are entitled to refunds.

Attorney General Kelly Ayotte says the items were sold by a charity called "The Gentle Wind Project." She says anyone who bought such an item from the beginning of 2003 until last September can make a claim for reimbursement or restitution.

The refunds are based on a Maine court order last year that dissolved the organization, banned its founders from making false claims about its products and ordered that its assets be distributed as restitution to customers.

The Gentle Wind Project also has done business in New Hampshire. It sold "healing instruments" to people all over the world which it claimed would heal various ailments. They included laminated cards and disks that were billed as being able to help improve people's emotional, mental and physical health.

The claims must be made through the Maine Attorney General's office in Augusta.
